Logo
Our logo was originally hand drawn by the Founder and actualized by Visual Artist, Jamaal Clark. The word ‘ranuba’ rises from the Blue Lotus, which is symbolic of One’s ability to grow from a seed under muddy swampy water, rising above with petals opening beautifully in harmony with the rising sun. Yet is has not one stain on it. The Winged Scarab beetle is symbolic of Ancient Kemmet/Egypt’s Kpheri/Kphera Ra, who was believed to bring the sun over the horizon each day. Thus, it became a symbol of rebirth, regeneration, and protection. Also, the Flower of Life is pictured in the Sun. It represents the cycles of life and the interconnectedness of ALL life.
FROM THE FOUNDER
“I remember as a young child how CREATIVE EXPRESSION SAVED MY LIFE. I grew up in a small metro-city called Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The population was about 50,000 at the time. This city is number the United Stated for crime per capita. The unemployment rate is higher than the national average. The sales taxes are higher than the national average. Household income averages below half the national average. I grew up under the age of 9 years old years old hearing gunshots via drive-bys…seeing gangs fight… Children’s bicycles were stolen…People would even break into churches to steal equipment.
Although all these things were happening around me, I had no idea, because Creative Expression via after school and community programs along with summer school programs helped keep my eyes elsewhere. I was acting in plays, singing in musicals, marching in parades with the band, playing instruments, developing photos, making my own CD album art, twirling batons, dancing on teams, sewing on own clothes in class, and more. THESE EXPERIENCES SAVED MY LIFE! It kept me in school and out of trouble! It gave me something to look forward to…and it even provided ways for me to travel to other states and see possibilities.”
During my late twenties, I realized the arts were being taken out of many schools. There weren’t as many programs for children. During COVID, it truly moved children, individuals, and families away from community engagement activities. I reflected on my childhood memories and wanted children of today to have a way to express their pain, abuse, traumas, and fears. They needed alternative ways to channel adversity and have options So one day, while eating in Whole Foods cafe in Washington DC, I looked at a Periodic Table and found the words Ra, N, U, and Ba. Then, I defined them in terms of Ancient Kemet/Egypt, as described earlier. This was birth of ranuba, that will bring forth an International Revolution of Freedom Artists, Socio-Entrepreneurs, and Global Citizens living in harmony with a New Earth.
“There is a fine line between the artist and the healer. Art is therapeutic and allows one to tap into a very pure and authentic place to CREATE and express the REAL self, thus giving birth to the Freedom Artist. The path of the freedom artist is a path of full acceptance of self and transmutation through creativity into the eternal flow of unconditional love. ”
